NightWard Privacy Policy
NightWard, displayed as 晚安守护 in Simplified Chinese and 晚安守護 in Traditional Chinese, is a local screen time management app built on Apple Screen Time capabilities. We do not provide our own account system, do not operate a developer-hosted server for storing your rules, and do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising tracking.
1. Information Processed on Your Device
To provide screen time rules, management modes, temporary unlocks, reports, Pro entitlement checks, and local configuration features, NightWard may store the following information locally on your device:
- Rule names, schedules, enabled status, modes, repeat settings, temporary unlock records, and local report records you create.
- The apps, categories, or websites you select through the system Screen Time picker. iOS provides protected selection identifiers to the app; we do not read chat content, webpage bodies, photos, contacts, or personal content inside other apps.
- Management mode, PIN status, authorization prompts, iCloud sync status, free rule quota status, and the most recent local StoreKit Pro entitlement cache.
- The 4-digit management PIN you choose. The PIN is used only to protect local rule settings and temporary unlocks, and it is not uploaded to a server operated by us.
2. Screen Time, iCloud, and Apple Services
After you grant permission, NightWard uses Screen Time-related capabilities provided by Apple, including FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity, to apply system restrictions to the apps, categories, or websites you choose during rule schedules. These system capabilities, permission prompts, and restriction mechanisms are provided by Apple iOS.
If you choose to upload or restore iCloud configuration, your rules, modes, management PIN status, and report snapshots may be stored through Apple iCloud Key-Value Store in the iCloud space associated with your Apple ID. Apple provides the storage, sync, security, and deletion mechanisms for iCloud.
NightWard does not bypass iOS permissions, does not read the content of restricted apps, and does not monitor chats, calls, text messages, photos, precise location, or contacts.
3. In-App Purchases, Subscriptions, and Pro Entitlements
NightWard offers Pro in-app purchases. Free users may use a limited free rule quota; Pro unlocks unlimited rules, iCloud configuration, and admin PIN features. Current Pro products include weekly, quarterly, and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions, plus a lifetime non-consumable purchase. Actual prices, currencies, free trial eligibility, and subscription status are provided by the App Store / StoreKit.
Purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, billing, taxes, and payment methods are handled by Apple App Store. We use StoreKit 2 to load products, start purchases, restore purchases, and verify current entitlements. To display membership state quickly and enforce feature gates, the app may cache locally whether Pro is active and whether lifetime Pro is owned; final access is still based on valid transactions returned by Apple / StoreKit.
We do not operate our own payment server, do not store your full payment card information, do not upload purchase credentials to a developer-operated server, and do not use purchase status for advertising tracking.
4. Third-Party SDKs and Libraries
The current version uses the following third-party SDKs or software libraries:
- Tencent Bugly SDK: used to detect and fix crashes and improve app stability. Bugly may collect diagnostic information when the app crashes or encounters an exception, such as device model, operating system version, app version, crash logs, exception stack traces, network status, and device identifiers generated by Bugly for stability analysis. We do not use Bugly for advertising, ad tracking, or user profiling. Bugly's handling of this information is described in the Bugly SDK Privacy Statement.
- SnapKit: used to build app interface layouts. SnapKit does not collect, transmit, or store personal information as an independent third-party service.
- LookinServer: used only in Debug development builds for interface inspection. It is not used in the App Store release version for data collection or user tracking.
5. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not require account registration, and we do not collect your name, phone number, government ID, contacts, or precise location.
- We do not integrate advertising SDKs, conduct cross-app advertising tracking, or sell your personal information.
- We do not read the specific content of restricted apps or websites, and we do not record chat content, webpage bodies, or media files.
- Except for Bugly crash diagnostics and StoreKit processing required for in-app purchases, we do not currently use third-party analytics SDKs to track your in-app behavior.
6. How We Use Data
We process the local information described above only to provide features you choose to use, including creating and applying screen time rules, showing selected-scope statistics, protecting family rule settings, generating local reports, configuring iCloud backup and restore, checking Pro entitlements, restoring purchases, and locating and fixing crashes.
7. Retention, Deletion, and Permission Withdrawal
Local data remains on your device until you clear local data in the app, uninstall the app, or clear app data through system settings. If you use iCloud features, related data may remain in your iCloud space, and you can manage it through iCloud settings or other methods provided by Apple.
You can manage Screen Time-related permissions in iOS Settings. If you withdraw permission, NightWard may no longer be able to apply system restrictions, but locally saved rules may remain visible or configurable after you grant permission again. Subscription cancellation, refunds, or lifetime purchase entitlement issues should be handled through Apple's subscription, purchase history, or refund channels.
8. Children and Family Use
NightWard may be used for family screen time management. Parents or guardians should use the app in compliance with applicable laws, Apple Family Sharing, and Screen Time rules, and should explain relevant restrictions to managed family members. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.
9. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in features, legal requirements, third-party SDKs, in-app purchase configuration, or App Store review requirements. When we update the policy, we will revise the effective date on this page. For material changes, we will try to provide notice in the app, on the App Store page, or on this page.
